Consumer body to file complaint against Indian Railways

The Consumer Protection Council, Tamil Nadu has resolved to file a complaint against the railways in the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission to force them to stop collecting sleeper class fare in the day-time Cholan Expresses.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at the executive committee meeting of the council that was presided over by its president R. Natarajan here on Friday. It said passengers were forced to pay sleeper class fare in the day-time Cholan Expresses (Train No. 6854 / 6853) ever since the trains were resumed in the main
line broad gauge section from April 26 onwards.
Stating that this was an unfair trade practice, the consumer body said railways' own rule prohibited berths from being used for stretching or sleeping from 6 a.m. to 9.pm. Railways were charging sleeper class fares for the day-time train which is unjustified.

Indian Railways-PQWL wait list

PQWL
This Quota has also to be shared by all the passengers of a particular train traveling from:
(i) one intermediate station to another intermediate station of a train
(ii) from any intermesdiate station to terminating station falling in the route of the train.

PQWL is used for small stations of a train.

Had you booked your ticket across the PRS Counter, the letters PQWL (wherever it applies) would have got printed on your ticket.
 In Internet Booking, whether it is E-Ticket or I-Ticket, only WL will be displayed, which many passenger cannot figure it out whether it is PQWL or RLWL.
There will not be any RAC before the PQWL starts. So, in so far as PQWL is concerned, it is either hit-out OR get-out, that is, Confirmed or Dropoped from the Waiting List itself.

Here is one example
Let take train Number 6321 Check the Availability from:
i)From Originating Station to Terminating Station;
ii)From Originating Station to Intermediate Station;
iii) From One Intermediate Station to another Intermediate Station;
iv) From Intermediate Station to Ternminating Station.

Check the availability for SBC-TVC/SBC-TCR/SBC-TUP/SA-TVC and found out the General Quota, the Pooled Quota and also the station where Pooled Quota terminates while booking from Originating Station.

The SBC-PGT, SA-ERS, and SA-TVC is Pooled Quota whereas SBC-TCR & beyond is General Quota.

In some long distance trains you will also find Remote Location Quota which is intended for the passengers travelling between a particular Intermediate Station and Terminating Station, which do not overlaps with Pooled Quota.
There will be RAC, once the Remote Location Quota gets exhausted and after RAC, the RLWL commences.
