CLEAN TRAINS STATION SCHEME EXTENDED TO 42 MORE TRAIN BY SER

As many as 42 additional long distance mail/express trains of South Eastern Railway have been included in the list of trains which are to be cleaned enroute at designated “Clean Train Stations”.The inclusion of these trains in the past one month under CTS (Clean Train Station) facilities has been arranged after identifying trains which were not attended at any “Clean Train Station” in their entire journey in the past.

Among the Western India bound trains, 10 trains have been included in the CTS facilities at Nagpur and 5 trains included in CTS facilities at Bilaspur. As far as Southern India trains of S.E.Railway are concerned, 10 trains have been included in the CTS facilities at Vijayawada and 1 train included at Bhubaneswar. Apart from these, 11 trains have been included in the existing CTS scheme at Kharagpur, 10 trains at Rourkelaand 1 train at Bhusawal.

“Clean Train Station Scheme” is one of the major initiatives of Indian Railways under which long distance trains are cleaned by reputed and professional agencies by mechanized process at stations during its scheduled halt.In this scheme, a gang of 25-35 persons attend to the interiors of the trains; specially the toilets are cleaned by using high pressure jet machines and environment friendly bio-degradable cleaning agents. The toilets & coaches are sprayed with mosquito repellent and the area between the toilets, doorways, vestibules and aisle are also cleaned. In this scheme the dustbins of the coaches are emptied and the window glasses of AC coaches are also cleaned from outside.

The inclusion of more number of trains in CTS scheme at various enroute stations has been made possible due to the effort of Shri A.K.Verma, General Manager, South Eastern Railway who has relentlessly pursued this issue with the Railway Board. This has resulted in improved hygiene in the toilets and in the coaches on one hand and has resulted in reduction of passenger complaints regarding cleanliness on the other hand.
